MOTHER LANGUAGE AND MULTILINGUAL EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETY - 2023

On February 15, 2023, the annual webinar "Mother language and multilingual education in the context of sustainable development of society" dedicated to the International Mother Language Day 2023 was held. The theme of International Mother Language Day 2023 is "Multilingual education - a necessity to transform education".

The main initiators are the Department of Content and Technologies of Pedagogical Education, Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education, National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and UNESCO Chairs on Lifelong Professional Education in the XXI Century

The purpose of the webinar is the educational mission of the partnership of scientific institutions of professional pre-higher and higher education, institutions of general education in the effective implementation of the policy of Ukrainian-language education and rational support of multilingual education; affirming the value of language as a marker of Ukrainian identity in the conditions of wartime realities.
Webinar participants (more than 170 people): public figures, scientists, students, master's students, post-graduate students, doctoral students, teachers of institutions of professional pre-higher and higher education, teachers and methodologists of institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education, teachers of general education and preschool institutions.

The issues of the webinar covered such issues as:● Ukrainian language education as a priority of national progress in the conditions of the war and post-war times.● Problems of the development of multilingual and mother language education in modern Ukrainian society - an authoritative opinion.● European trends in multilingual education.● Experience of multilingual and native language education in institutions of professional pre-higher and higher pedagogical education.● Confirmation of the traditions of mother tongue education in the conditions of secondary education institutions.● Preservation of cultural heritage in the museum space.
The event was moderated by Professor Myroslava Vovk.

Every year, within the framework of the event, scientific and educational practices are presented by Ukrainian scientists and teachers known in Ukraine and abroad.

Professor Pavlo Hrytsenko, Director of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language in his report on the topic "Ukrainian language today: challenges and models of rank" emphasized the fact that, in today's conditions, the language serves as a means of humanizing a person, creating and preserving the nation.

Professor Heorhii Filipchuk, proves with his own life position that through social networks and discussions in the columns of periodicals, the word is a weapon on the information front.

Honored education worker, Director of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Relations with the Diaspora at Lviv Polytechnic National University - Iryna Klyuchkovska revealed the problems of studying the Ukrainian language abroad in wartime conditions, outlined the prospects of Ukrainian language education in partnership with the diaspora.

Serhiy Galchenko, Deputy director of the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a well-known researcher of Ukrainian literary writing, presented the first creative legacies of P. Tychyna and V. Sosiura, focusing on unknown facts and events of their lives.

An interesting speech was given by Galina Raibediuk, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Language and Literature, Izmail State Humanitarian University, who highlighted the challenges and prospects of literary education in the conditions of a multi-ethnic region and qualitative changes in the content of modern teacher training

Based on the results of the event, recommendations were made regarding the qualitative change in the content of education, i.e., mandatory courses on the Ukrainian language, culture, and history in all educational institutions, updating educational and methodological support for studying the Ukrainian language.
